Dental insurance for braces, What are braces like
Hello, I am 25 and have been thinking about getting braces for some time now. A few of my teeth are crooked and I have a gap towards the back. Other then the placement of my teeth I have healthy teeth and gums.
I wondering a few things. First is it too late to get dental insurance for braces or will dental insurance only cover kids to have braces? Also what is the process for getting braces put on? Does it hurt having braces put on?
If I get insurance do I get to see an orothodontic dental office right away? Or am I left having long term waiting periods? Any advise would be helpful thanks.

Yet me try and address each of your question one at a time for you.
1) Is it too late to get dental insurance for braces? No it is never to late to pick up dental insurance or a dental plan for your dental needs. However, with most dental insurance plans they will not cover you for work in progress. So make sure you do not start getting braces put on before getting dental insurance in place frist.
2) Will dental insurance only cover kids to have braces? Many dental insurance plans will only cover for kids to have braces but that does not mean to say all do. You need to review each plan to confirm whether or not adult orthodontic services are available.
3) Does it hurt having braces put on? Yes it can hurt some while having braces put on but nothing you should not be able to deal with. Think about it kids are having braces put on all the time so for a 25 year old you should make it though the process just fine.
You may be sore for a while with braces until you adjust to having them in. In theory nothing that an Advil can not help you with.
4) If I get dental insurance will I get to see an orthodontic dental office right away? Or am I left having long term waiting periods? This question also depends on the plan and plan type. Such as if you get a PPO they more likely will have some type of waiting period for braces.
Where as HMO plans may not have a waiting period for braces but you still may need to be refer by the general dentist you picked under their plan. Which can take some time for the referral process to be approved.
There are also dental discount plans. On a discount plan they normally start within the next business day and you can go to any of their provider with out a referral to get your discounted savings off the cost of having braces.
Here something you may aslo like about getting a discount plan. Age is not a factor so you can have braces under a discount plan regardless of your age.
I hope this helps brake down all your questions. Check out the plans this website has to offer by just entering in your zip code in the quote box above.
