Dental Insurance, understanding how dental insurance works
I am not sure I really understand how dental insurance works.  I have dental insurance PPO plan though my job but it does not really seem all that great to me.  I am thinking about removing it and getting just the medical.
My questions are why have insurnance if you are having to pay the dentist in full for dental services. I meen I know you get your money back but if I could afford to pay the dentist I would not need dental insurance.

Seems to me it is not the dental insurance that is the problem but the dental office you are going to. Find yourself a dentist that is not going to make you paid up front and that will be willing to file your claim and bill you for the adjusted difference.

On a PPO even though you may be able to go out side their provider data base if you want a dentist that is more willing to work with you on the claims process it is better to choose a dentist in the network. I agree you may have to change dentist not dental insurance plans.

If you really going to drop your current dental insurance then at least pick up an HMO dental insurance plan. You may like them better because there are no claim forms and you are only paying the amount show on the policy for each dental service. Review the fee schedules and see if that would be more affordable for you
