California Dental Health care, Can you see a dentist without dental insurance
I would like to know if someone can see a dentist for dental services if they do not have any current dental insurance or dental discount plan? I have a friend that does not have either and is low income.
He has an infection or abscess tooth and he is in a great deal of pain. Is there and ER for dental services?  At least in the ER you still get treated whether or not you have insurance and then you worry about the bill after the fact. But it seems with dental you are out of luck. What can my friend do at this point.

I would suggest to your friend to look into dental schools and or dental clinic both offer there dental services an a very low cost compare to your local dentist.
He may also be able to get free dental services depending on what he needs done. He may need to show proof of low income however so keep that in mind.

I would talk to your friend. There are dental HMO insurance plans that can run as low as $7.00 a month. Even on a low income hopefully he could afford to spend $7.00 month.
Now I know for his current teeth issues he needs to do something about that now. So I too suggest looking for a dental clinic or school.
He could go to the hospital but normal when it comes to teeth they will only give him pain killers and antibiotics, and advise you to see a dentist. Unless it is a matter of his life then they would do more but you really do not want it to get to that point.
