Dental Insurance Plus – How Dose Dental Insurance Work
Question: I am not sure I really understand how dental insurance works. I have dental insurance PPO plan though my job but it does not really seem all that good to me. My questions are why have insurance if you are having to pay the dentist in full for dental services. I mean I know you get your money back but if I could afford to pay the dentist I would not need dental insurance.
Reply: With PPO’s plans how you pay depends on how the dentist processes the claims. Sounds as if the dentist you are going to dose require you to pay in full at the time services are provided to you, there are other dentist office that will charge you based on your plan coverage and then adjust for any difference accordingly. There may be still though even fewer that will wait for the insurance company to pay and then charge you for any remaining balances. Less and less dental offices do that however. It is understandable that they would want to be paid for the services that where already render.
So really the issue is with the dental office with regards to your complaint. You would need to find a dental office that works with you and how they file out claims.
