Dental care and receding gums
Monday, Nov. 1st 2010 8:28 AM
My dentist will not believe me when I tell him I think my gums are receding. I go to the dentist once every six months and each time I tell him I think my gums are receding because my teeth look longer.
He tell me everything is fine with my gums and teeth and will just do the basic cleanings. I know that something up and he does not see it. What should I do fix my receding gums this is really worrying me.

That is odd because most dentist would love to tell you that you need to have cost dental services if they feel you need them. But if you really feel your dentist is not listing to you then go to another dentist for a second opinion.

Well I do agree dentist will normally teeth you if you have gum issues going on. In my own personal experience having your gums taken care of is more expensive then many other major dental needs.
I have to have deep cleaning like every other year costing in the hundreds each time due to my gingivitis issues. I can not see a dentist disregarding receding gums. So unless you really think you have a dentist that does not know what he/she is taking about I would believe that a dentist would know if your gums are receding or not.
But like the one reply stated get a second opinion. Does not sound like you are liking your current dentist all the much anyway so why not find one you can have some trust in.
