Dentist stating that a ten year old needs to have a crown
My son is ten he has a large size cavity in one of his back molars.  The dentist he is currently seeing is telling me he needs to have a crown put on his tooth. I see no point of putting a crown on a baby tooth. I asked if he could not just have a filling done since I can not afford a crown. He stated to me that he could do a filling but since the cavity is so large, my son may crack the tooth later on. I really only want the filling and told him I would think about it and get back to him. I feel he trying to charge me for a much more costly dental service, instead of just doing the filling. Anyone had to have a crown done on a baby tooth just because the cavity was large?
